Face & Neck Lift

What is Facelift and Neck Lift Surgery?

Facelift or facial rejuvenation surgeries are surgical interventions performed to correct signs of aging in the face and neck areas. Over time, aging causes the skin and muscles of the face to loosen, leading to loss of elasticity and wear. These surgeries aim to tighten and stretch the skin and deeper tissues, helping the face achieve a more youthful appearance rather than reversing the aging process.

Who is Suitable for Facelift and Neck Lift Surgery?

Facelift surgery, also known as Rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure aimed at improving the appearance of the face and neck. This surgery can give the skin a younger and fresher appearance, making wrinkles and sagging skin less noticeable. Individuals who show signs of aging such as skin sagging, wrinkles, and loss of elasticity, especially after the age of 40, are considered suitable candidates for facelift surgery. Additionally, the procedure can also be used to address specific concerns such as jowls or a double chin.

Surgical Technique?

In facelift surgery, the skin is reshaped with all its layers. During the operation, incisions are made in the skin to intervene in the underlying connective tissues, mimic muscles, and sagging tissues. This intervention restores sagging tissues to their original state and corrects skin irregularities.

Surgery Longevity and Recovery

Facelift surgery is commonly known as a facial rejuvenation procedure and can generally make a person appear 7 to 12 years younger. However, the aging process continues even after the surgery. In other words, the youthful appearance achieved typically lasts about 10 - 12 years. However, various factors such as stress, lack of sleep, unhealthy eating, excessive alcohol consumption, smoking, excessive sun exposure, and a sedentary lifestyle can lead to the earlier loss of the rejuvenated appearance obtained after facelift surgery.

Post-Operation

After facelift and neck lift surgery, it generally takes about 4-6 hours for the patient to start eating and moving slowly. Drains placed during the operation are usually removed within 1 or 2 days. Bandages used after the surgery typically remain for about a week. Mild pain may be felt post-operation, but pain relievers can control this discomfort. Bruising and swelling typically last for about a week and then gradually decrease. Methods such as ice therapy recommended by your doctor can help reduce swelling faster. Post-surgical scars are usually placed in front and behind the ears, making them inconspicuous. These scars typically become nearly invisible within 6-12 months.
